Responsibilities
- Execute of shipments including contract draft, issuing Lc’s, vessel nomination, shipping advice, insurance declaration, discharge/ load port agent appointment, LOI, load/discharge operation. Manage trade finance activities, particularly with instruments relating to Documentary Credit such as letters of credit and ensure full operative letter of credits are in place and in control for clean presentation of documents for prompt receipt of payments. Ensure timely settlement of claims and account receivable.
- Proactively highlighting risks and issues related to the execution of the shipment to the stakeholders (like shipping team, trade finance & tax) so as to ensure appropriate mitigation steps are taken into consideration.
- Suggest Process improvements wherever there are any gaps in daily processes for better working and improving productivity within the team.
- Maintain a good working relationship with customers contact both internal and external, proactively foresee and highlight the opportunities and risk/exposure within the business.
- Liaise with Commercial, Trade Structured Finance, Tax, Legal, Ocean Transportation, Accounting and various other teams to work on interconnected projects and resolve problems from time to time.
- Help the team to negotiate the contract terms with external customers and get internal alignment on terms considered as exposure to the business. Provide technical support to the parties involved on contractual terms, with an emphasis risk management within the execution space.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Any other ad-hoc duties assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of shipping and international practices e.g. C/P terms and its relation to sales/purchase of contracts, laytime calculations, B/L requirements, including insurance classifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
